  11.   February 5, 1993 -- Notes on Telix 3.21:
  12.  
  13.      o deltaComm customers possessing invoices dated December 10th, 1992
  14.        through January 29th, 1993 are entitled to a free electronic
  15.        upgrade from 3.20 to 3.21 (those being customers who received
  16.        3.20 on disk from us).  To obtain your electronic update, call
  17.        the BBS at 919-481-9399 and complete script questionnaire # 2 on
  18.        the main board.  A sysop will give you access to a "registered
  19.        user" conference where the significant registered changes can be
  20.        downloaded.

  22.      o 3.21 is a maintenance release for version 3.20 -- there are no new
  23.        features in this version.  The corrected situations are as follows:

  25.      o Corrected code that under some circumstances would cause the dialing
  26.        box to read:

  30.      o Send('', filespec); in SALT would, under 3.15, prompt for a protocol,
  31.        but not the filename.  3.21 now works the same way 3.15 did.

  33.      o When used with @FILELIST protocols, _ext_filespec was not being
  34.        properly loaded with FILELIST in SALT.
  35.  
  36.      o The picklist box has been a continuing source of problems to users of
  37.        removable drives (Bernoulli, device driven floppies, etc).  A new,
  38.        user-editable line can be added to TELIX.CNF (but only with a text
  39.        editor -- there was no room for this one under ALT-O):

  43.        Each of the letters listed in quotes is validated as being a
  44.        POTENTIAL drive letter (i.e. A-Z) and then added to the picklist.  If
  45.        you try to list a drive that doesn't exist, Telix will *accept* the
  46.        drive unchecked, *until* you try to toggle to that drive via the box,
  47.        at which time Telix will attempt to validate the drive, and will not
  48.        allow the change.

  50.        If this parameter is not listed in the config file, Telix will
  51.        continue to validate all drives when you press PgUp or Alt-S.
  52.  
  53.      o Xmodem uploads used boxes that appeared to be download text.

  55.      o TELIX.MDM has been reworked and updated, with the addition of over
  56.        100 new modems, including most of the ones we get asked about most
  57.        frequently.  Try the new one if your modem was not listed before.
  58.        Please note that this new TELIX.MDM *requires* a version of
  59.        MODEMCFG.EXE dated 02/05/93 or later.

  61.      o CSS Whenloop bugs have been fixed to no longer require accompanying
  62.        BEGIN/END statements.  This code now works:

  76.      o Host+'s determine_baud() routine was rewritten, previously, when
  77.        it was unable to determine the baud rate, it would set it to 300.
  78.        The new revision will now set the baud rate to the DTE rate (or
  79.        original starting baud rate).

  81.      o HPCOMP.EXE in Host+ was adding 5 or 6 'garbage' characters to
  82.        the message titles when the message base was packed.  This is
  83.        now fixed.

  85.      o Host+ now correctly rescans the message/file base areas for
  86.        the first valid base available to the user when their access
  87.        level is upgraded online.

  89.      o Alt-O/Terminal/settings would display "11520" rather than
  90.        "115200" due to a long-time bug dating back to PTel that limited the
  91.        length of the field to 5 characters.

  96. (Toronto, Ontario) - Exis Inc., developers of the popular shareware modem
  97. communications software Telix, today announced the sale and transfer of rights
  98. to the program source code, trademark name, and future sales of the program to
  99. former Exis Technical Support Manager, Jeff Woods, for undisclosed terms.  No
  100. reason was given for the sale, but Woods stated that both parties were in
  101. agreement that this was the best course of action to ensure the long-term
  102. growth and prosperity of the product.  The chief programmer of Telix releases
  103. to-date, Colin Sampaleanu, will remain with Exis, working on other, unrelated
  104. projects.

  106. Woods said Telix will be available from the new company, deltaComm Development,
  107. located in Cary, North Carolina, and support and upgrade pricing will continue
  108. to be offered to previous registered users.  A new minor upgrade to Telix will
  109. also be released before year's end, containing some of the more popular feature
  110. requests.  Some of these features, according to the new owner, are script
  111. 'learning' capability, easier learning curve for the powerful SALT scripting
  112. language, and the 'so-called' ANSI music capability. "Other ideas for this
  113. interim release are being discussed as well," said Woods.

  115. "Further development," he added, "will proceed very rapidly toward early
  116. release of anticipated major revisions.  The minor release is mainly to adjust
  117. the public to the new company behind the product, and to offer some of the
  118. features of the major revision a bit early."

  125.   December 10, 1992 -- Notes on Telix 3.20:

  127.      o Telix 3.20 is being released to replace existing copies with
  128.        deltaComm copies, and to introduce some of the most frequently
  129.        requested features internally to Telix.
  130.  
  131.      o File transfer graphic representation bars have been added to all
  132.        protocols.  They now display a running presentation of exactly
  133.        how much a file transfer has left to go.
  134.  
  135.      o Transfer estimates are now based on the DCE rather than DTE connect
  136.        speed, making them much more reliable.  Your modem must return
  137.        the DCE speed as the first number after the connect string to
  138.        take advantage of this feature.

  140.      o Added a "script learning" feature to the registered version.
  141.  
  142.      o Telix can now Swap to EMS/XMS/disk on a DOS Shell as an option.

  144.      o Added a fifth external protocol, and added "Auto-download"
  145.        triggers for all external protocols.  If your external protocols
  146.        have strings that uniquely identify an incoming file, such as
  147.        HS/Link, you may now enjoy the automation of Zmodem on these
  148.        externals as well.

  150.      o Added "Reverse Terminal Emulation" for European users.  RTE
  151.        reverses the order of emulation and translate tables, so that 7
  152.        bit systems that use the left bracket key as a remap key may now
  153.        work properly with ANSI and VT terminals.

  155.      o Telix is forced to correct the version= line in TELIX.CNF if it
  156.        is incorrect.   This should make the check of this variable by
  157.        third party scripts much more reliable.

  159.      o The SALT dial function now returns the proper value when the
  160.        dialing is aborted by the user.
  161.  
  162.      o Changed the character used by Telix when remote aborts transfers
  163.        to  thus avoiding placing a Control-Z into the capture file.

  165.      o Corrected Zmodem cps rates to reflect more accurate (faster) rates.

  167.      o Added /D command line parameter which lowers RTS on disk writes.
  168.        If you are getting a CRC error when your system writes to disk,
  169.        try using this option.

  171.      o Added a second, simple scripting language for non-programmers,
  172.        called SIMPLE.  SALT remains untouched -- SIMPLE is an English ->
  173.        SALT translator.  Complete docs on SIMPLE are enclosed.

  175.      o Added a BBS-calibre Host mode (doors, multiple message areas, etc)
  176.        formerly known as HOST 5.0 from Host Software Products.  It is
  177.        now an integral part of Telix.

  179.      o File tagging for uploading files -- up to 100 files per transfer
  180.        -- has been added and extended to external protocols as well.
